Drum Classes?

Temporarily on hold!

I'm still looking for a new studio! Drum classes will temperally be on hiatus. Updates will be posted soon!

Basic Doumbek class - Skills and Drills

Mab will be teaching an on-going class based on her acclaimed Skills and Drills workshop!

The class will offer practical percussion wisdom based on Mab's many years of professional drumming experience, meeting the needs of both beginning and experienced drummers. Lessons will focus on how to hold and strike the drum, as well as solid foundations that will carry with you well into the future! Additionally, we will cover basic doumbek rhythms, and how to break down rhythms for easy comprehension.

This class is also great for people who already know how to strike the drum, as we cover solid foundation drills. All of the information taught in this class is simple enough for the beginner, and solid enough for established drummers of all backgrounds.

Not really important, but I felt like sharing:

a sample of mab's thoughts, last updated November 20,2006

today I started typing up an event announcement, like I do, and I began typing things that I have not consciously thought about in some time.
some quotes:

"a nod to some ages past, back when I was young, with stars in my eyes, and the hopes of my granddaughters behind me."

and

"...something that has shaped my life for over 14 years.

I was one of the very first tribal fusion belly dancers in this area, when this area was not welcome to that sort of thing. Me and my early dance family helped forage a new path on previously unexplored terra. and it is with great pride and honor I see what the community has grown into, all these years later.

know when I say this, it comes from the heart, thank you all. Help keep the arts accessible to the masses, put a 5, a 10 or even a 20 into the hat and sleep easier tonight knowing that you just gave something to your grandchildren.. creativity."

I want to make sure you know that I love what I see here in my own hometown. and it is only in the past 2 years have I felt anything resembling Local Pride. Thank you DCTribal. Thank you DCBurners. Thank you to the Tribe.
