 Hi All!
Mab here. with a very important announcement.
this weekend Romka will be hosting DCTribal Cafe at club Asylum. they do this every last Sunday of the month. So what makes this particular weekend so special, you ask? well. it is with great honor, and a little bit of shyness I announce that I will be performing. You may have seen me eat fire. you may know me as the girl who walks on broken glass. you may even associate my performances with straight jackets and chains. but not this time.
this time, I will be Dancing. Yup. you heard me. That's right. This will be a nod to some ages past, back when I was young, with stars in my eyes, and the hopes of my granddaughters behind me.
This will be the last time I will be able to dance for quite some time. This performance is very special to me. I will be sharing something that has shaped my life for over 14 years.
I was one of the very first tribal fusion belly dancers in this area, when this area was not welcome to that sort of thing. Me and my early dance family helped forage a new path on previously unexplored terra. and it is with great pride and honor I see what the community has grown into, all these years later.
I specialize in more theatrical dance performances. This weekend, I will be bringing 2, maybe three, pieces, some new, some old. I can hardly contain myself. I'm going to try to not give away the surprise........let's see how long I can refrain!
I am giddy to be sharing the stage with one of the most amazing up and coming Tribal Style dance groups coming out of Baltimore, Kallisti Tribal. These ladies knocked my socks off! I love each and every one of the dearly. and I think you will too.
and to top the evening off, Belladonna will be closing the set. Her last performance at the DCTribal Pura show, had me hooting and yipping backstage. Every time I think I've seen more dance than I can stand, she pulls out another amazing new piece. This is someone you don't want to miss!
Ladies and gentlemen. What you are seeing happening before you, is truly amazing. I have watched the arts in DC grow and thrive! New, innovating, and truly creative things are growing up and out of our community. DC is starting to get National Recognition! Let's keep this going! Let's support our fellow artists!
know when I say this, it comes from the heart, thank you all. Help keep the arts accessible to the masses, put a 5, a 10 or even a 20 into the hat and sleep easier tonight knowing that you just gave something to your grandchildren...creativity. Asylum
